Dating a single mom?

I just started dating a single mom and I went on YouTube and it seems like almost every video is saying don't do it. There are SO many of those videos out there I could not really find a good one. I'm looking for peoples opinion. Is this just angry people online?

If you want to be a cuck and raise someone else's kids and put in twice as much work pleasing both a woman and her children, buying them toys, changing their diapers and sh*t, all while they tell you "you're not my real dad" and you have no actual power to discipline or raise them, then good on you! Not me, though...

Single moms are basically looking for substitute fathers, when in all likelihood, they make poor life choices to begin with, like sleeping around, picking bad men, and not using proper protection (widows being excused from all of these). And yes, I did have a single mom, not that it changes anything on how I feel about it.

You are ALWAYS going to be dead last priority in a single mother's life. I always use the analogy of it being like buying a used car at a higher retail price than a brand new one. Twice as much effort for half as much attention and gratitude. But I guess, some men are willing to go that route. It's not "anger." It's wanting to actually matter in a woman's life and not be an afterthought to her.

Unless she's a sh*tty mom, she is ALWAYS going to put her kids first, which means you will always be dead last importance in her life, and if need be, she will be looking to you to pick up the slack the dad left behind. It makes perfect sense, from a mother's point of view, but the man is getting shafted there.

That's why I think only single dads, or wannabe fathers, should date single moms.

My own mother was a single mom and as a kid I did my best to keep guys away from her. When that failed, I made his visits to the house as miserable as I possibly could. The man wasn't a jerk; he was actually a decent guy, but why would I want him hanging around in my house and spending time with my mother?

Bottom-line: don't expect her kids to like you, or even tolerate you. They might hate you on sight.

I guess really it depends on what you want/need, and what kind of woman she is. And I know a lot of men have said that it’s hard dating a woman with children already because you may have to deal with her ex, or if the kids are older will they give you a hard time because you’re not their father. Or will the woman be upset if you discipline her kids. Or what if she expects you to discipline when necessary and you aren’t interested in that role. Do you think you could handle being a step dad if it got serious?

My older brother dated a single mom. Fast forward 16 years now, and they have three kids. And they live happily together. I also had the opportunity to date one of my old coworkers who was a single mom because she confessed that she liked me, but we didn’t have anything in common. Plus, she didn’t really cared about her kids. Which was a huge drawback, or else I would be with her. If you like her, go for it. Just know that the kids will always come first, and you have to treat them as your own.

My advice is if you're going to date or marry a single mom then its much better that her ex is dead already.

When you're dating a single mom, her ex is always going to be in the picture and needless drama can arise with you being with a woman who has a crazy or jealous ex still around in her life.

Just think hard about the cons and see if it's worth it?

I haven't seen him at all she said he's long gone? I do think she might be still pissed at him, she talks about how he "did her wrong" all the time.

It isn't for everyone. In fact, you better expect it to be about 100x harder than dating a single woman without kids. And that's assuming you are open to being someone else's "second dad."

Be honest with yourself and decide if you really want all that comes with it. Because it's not just you that will be affected if you're just fooling yourself.

And Im not even being hateful or anything I've tried it. Suddenly you're a father figure for a kid that doesn't respect you, you are always 3rd wheel and lowest priority in pecking order, y'all can't do anything spontaneous, baby daddy drama. Single moms like to say "I'm not looking for a new dad for my child" but thats bullshit because if she's dating you thinking y'all have long term potential then you gonna be the new dad
