When I was with my boyfriend another guy came up to us and said to him “I think you could land a prettier girl than this.”

I found what he said hurtful and also embarrassing.

Also nobody asked for his opinion and it is obvious what he said is quite hurtful towards me. I think he was intentionally trying to hurt my feelings.

That was extremely rude. Another important thing is what your boyfriend’s reaction was. If he seemed to agree, behaved neutral, or started laughing, that’s a problem. Anything except anger or getting upset would be an inappropriate reaction from him.

Yes I do, but what did your boyfriend say or do? If he didn't get pissed off, than I would question that.
