Is it illegal for a 20 year old to date a 16 year old in California?

Someone from my old high school is dating a a 16 year old and word got around fast so I was wondering how other people see it. Is it weird and disgusting or is it normal

From what I have heard from somebody else, they have upped the age to 18. Therefore it is illegal. Many years ago the age was 13, now it is 18. Either way, you can bet it is about sex. Not about love. if nobody is reporting it, it can be considered rape. If caught, the person can be tried as a sex offender. Since nobody is saying anything, it says a lot about nobody caring about the 16-year-old.

Date = legal. Any kind of sexual activity = illegal. Aside from the legalities of it though, it is not very socially acceptable for a 20 year old to date a 16 year old.

it may be legal depending on what where you live in certain areas but personally, i would look upon it since no one over 18 should be with a 16-year-old at all. i would not want my 16-year-old daughter to date anyone that age. it comes down to what the parents allow in the end.

Well a sexual relationship would certainly be illegal but if they are just dating their is no law against that.

If 16 is legal in California but, from what I've seen and heard, infants are legal and ANYTHING goes!!
