My boyfriend is always saying that he usually dates light skin women and he never dates dark skin women. The thing is I am a darker skin woman he is actually darker than me but I’m just not what the black community would consider as light skin. Sometimes I feel like he isn’t actually attracted to me and may just be keeping me around for the company. we have been dating for three months now and he hasn’t taken me out on any actual date besides going for ice cream one time in the night. He brings me around all of his friends all of the time but sometimes I feel like that doesn’t mean anything. Am I overreacting?

It might just be your insecurities taking over, you can always talk to him about going on an actual date but everything else seems to be just in your head. I get where you’re coming from tho, my boyfriend have only dated Chinese girls (he’s obsessed, he only follows Chinese girls on ig and only watches Asian porn) but I’m not Chinese. I also get insecure a lot but then I remember that he’s with me and is loyal to me so there’s nothing to worry about :)

Why would he do that? I feel like it's not respectful to say that and so much if he is with you now. It doesn't mean he isn't attracted to you but it's definitely dumb to keep talking about his preferences in front of you if you're not like that.

Tbh I've heard so many different opinions on that so I don't think there's one particular standard, there's a media standard though which isn't the same thing. I think most people prefer those who resemble themselves in general except for a few countries like Peru.
