Perhaps it suggests a conflict of potential emotional unavailability Vs lust, infatuation, that in turn is battling with common sense and senselessness that comes from the impulsive driven desire... that battles with what he senses about you and your past. In short, infatuation is overriding his logical mind probably because he's thinking with what's in his pants.

I know the song well. It's about a toxic woman. She's bad for him but he can't resist her charms. He's in love with her, but he feels if he pursues her he will regret it.
