Why won't people step out of their comfort zone & date someone different than them?

All throughout life we've grown up to hear that we should date someone just like us or similar. But shouldn't we give someone different or opposite a chance? Good idea or not, what do you think

Of course it's a good idea.
Slightly different personalities might be the best in my opinion, because you are still similar but different in some ways. So you can easily get along with each other.
If you can talk with someone for hours, then it doesn't matter if you two otherwise differ in some ways.

Been there done that, too opposite and we have literally nothing in common to do together so off doing our own thing all the time.
