Told a guy I liked him too soon? Am I being clingy?

I told a guy I liked him after three dates. Was this too soon? I was more so saying it to see whether or not the feeling is mutual and what he was looking for. I was not trying to ask what “we were”.
I am not trying to waste my time with a guy who wants only a hookup or something casual. Would this come off as clingy to anyone?

Nope. My current partner told me they liked me at the end of our first date. It helps that I also liked then a lot back. So no, definitely not too soon.

It's usually more effective to say I like this about you or this impresses me about you, rather than the vague/general I like you. Don't leave people guessing what you mean. Especially early on in a relationship, people tend to feel a need to protect themselves, so assume the worse. As long as you're clear, you can say anything at any stage in a relationship.
