Should I say something to my boyfriend about his financial decisions? please read details?

My 34 y/o boyfriend and I are in a serious long distance relationship and next fall I am supposed to be moving to California with him. he's been making a reoccurring comment about looking into buying an iPhone XS Max solely for the camera- not to switch services. Mind you, he NEVER takes pictures or videos or anything. He also has a company phone with his job and then his main phone that we communicate on, so that means he will have 3 phones total, and I think with how expensive it is to live in Cali that would be counterproductive to the plans we have in place with moving me there.
The thing is,
1- he was unemployed until 5 months ago and didn’t have any money/spent all of his 401k from his previous job.
2- now that he is employed (making around 50k) he pays nearly $800 in child support every month
3- he lives with his mom

TLDR: Would I be wrong for telling my boyfriend that he is wasting money by buying a THIRD phone just for the 4K camera?

After reading about the situation, paying $800 a month child support and living with his mom. my opinion is: ARE YOU NUTSO? $50,000 a year in California is peanuts these days. You can't buy a small house here for less than $600,000, at least not in Orange County. And unless he has a good work and income record for the last 5 years no one is going to loan him the money for one. So, you might be living with mom for a few years. All in all the financial problems would probably split you up and you would be stuck there with no place to go except back home. Long distance relationships are very prone to failing. I think you need to think this through a little more before you get on that plane.

Unless you are a photographer, influencer or youtuber, 4k will make zero difference in your life. Makes me worry about your future living together. Even more because you said that he spent 400k in randoom shit

Express your concern. You can't really make him do anything but tell him how you feel about it. Worrying doesn't make you wrong, that shows you care. Love is non judgement, so it's not a big deal as much as it seems. Best luck 🖤
