How do I get my boyfriend to communicate his feelings with me?

Sometimes he tries to communicate his feelings through sarcasm or movie quotes, but his communication methods are either just confusing or ineffective. I’d just like to know a few ways to get him to open up more.

Find a good therapist who specializes in communication skills, and then go in with your boyfriend and learn together. Learn the difference between talking and communicating, the importance of hearing and understanding the other rather than insisting the other hears you, the words that invite people closer by helping them to feel safe, the words that put people on the defensive and escalate conflict and understanding you can't communicate and argue at the same time. Don't tell him he's the one who needs to learn how to communicate. Tell him you'd like both of you to learn how to improve your communication skills. He is just copying what others have modeled for him, and he may see you as applying pressure and criticism. Entice and motivate him rather than push him away, but make sure the choices you make are received in a positive way from him.

Do you really want him to? I've heard enough stories of women saying they want their man to open up, only to completely lose attraction as soon as he does. Maybe your boyfriend has heard the same stories.

It is not easy for some people. I have had issues multiple times. Not being able to find the right words. Although his actions speak loud if you pay attention.
