Would you date someone with Asperger’s?

Not now since I’m engaged. I’ll be honest here, I don’t know enough about Asperger’s or autism in general to say whether I would or wouldn’t have in the past. My only experience (that I’m aware of) with an autistic guy was with a low-functioning one. It wasn’t a date but it was a bad experience.

Ah ok I admit I’m pretty ignorant myself in regards to it but it’s interesting to hear different experiences. I think there can be mild to severe cases of autism but I’m not 100% sure. I’m assuming your experience was a severe case?

Apparently a severe case as I was told afterwards. It was at a funeral, and it was a pretty peopley event. One of the parents brought him out of the chapel and he seemed pretty incoherent and distraught. She left him outside the chapel and when he walked by he punched me in the face.

I guess it would depend on how severe it is - Like there is a difference between someone who I'd think of as a bit weird (since that I'm attracted to her then weird in a good way) and some greta thunberg looking thing that talks like it and I'm obliged to listen... MY GOD

I'm happily married, so no, not currently. But if I was single, I have no idea. I guess it depends how it manifests in them, and whether I'm willing to put up with it, just like any other personality quirk or disability.

That seems to be the case, yes. Some people with Aspergers just have weird little quirks. Others are much closer to full blown autism, where they freak out if they get touched unexpectedly.

There's a reason its considered a spectrum.

In theory, sure I would have.
I'd have to learn more about it to even know what that would mean. I don't know the relationship symptoms that are common with someone with that condition.

Yeah. Also at least in America Asperger's isn't used as a clinical term anymore. They are just considered to be on the spectrum.

Officially, but doctors will still say it's Asperger's

Only ones who don't stay updated on new medical literature which I wouldn't take advice from.

The diagnosis is ASD, but they will still tell you it's Asperger's, because Autism Spectrum is extremely broad. Also people diagnosed as such before DSM 5 still are still listed as having it.
