Guys are not so different from women. We like genuine interaction. I don't want a woman asking me out because she just wants to go out with me. Why are you interested? Do you think I'm smart? Creative? Funny? Or what?
I'm not asking you to stroke my ego. I'm saying if you think I'm funny then joke with me. If you think I'm creative then engage my creative side. If you think I'm smart challenge me. If I like you If you build a rapport with me I'm a 100 times more likely to say yes and it'll be a 100 times less awkward for both of us.

If by "bold" you me confident, yes that's attractive. You like it in guys right? Same back. And a woman asking a guy out shows this, confidence! Not "desperation" like many women think/feel. As far as "how" specifically, the same way you'd like to be asked I guess. Just ask.
