Why do more and more women nowadays not know how to cook?

Question

A lot of girls, of my age or different, never learned to cook or clean, very few women that I know are decent cooks. Some can but know very few recipes, some are aggressively feministic views on cooking.
Saying priority on a career is bullshit, I have a pretty good career and I still know thousands of recipes and am great at cleaning and cooking, as I am very independent since the start.

I will not date any girl seriously as she will most likely not value those skills. Girls who can't cook or clean properly, don't appreciate the long hours you put in and they always run after outgoing/party guys and eat at restaurants. It happened to me before.
Just look at Carrie from Sex and the City😅.

I actually think it's a generational thing (or at least how these people were raised, regardless of age/generation) with both sexes. The amount of people our age I know who think cooking anything that requires more effort than microwaving a TV dinner or a cup of Ramen noodles is too much work is astounding. I've also noticed that there are a lot of people our age who are extremely picky eaters as well, and I mean "will eat nothing but crap you'd feed a 5-year-old such as chicken nuggets, plain cheese pizza, and Kraft mac and cheese" picky (and I have some thoughts on how they probably got this way, too, as I've seen the eating habits of the families who are like this, but that's another story), and so they typically either heat up a bag of frozen chicken nuggets or go through a drive-thru. They typically don't even like home cooked food (ask me how I know - I've cooked delicious homemade meals for a couple of friends like this, and they had the nerve to critique it for not being like the fast food or premade crap they're used to! 😡 It's not my cooking either, as everyone else loves it and my dishes are always a hit at parties!). Seriously, I got flack for my marinara not tasting like freaking Fazoli's or cheap jarred sauce, and my mac and cheese for not tasting like the Kraft bullshit. 😭

Yeah cooking skills are way down. With both girls and guys. It's an eat-out culture.

Some girls might be avoiding learning because they don't want to be 'boxed in by gender' or something. Which is stupid because eating is necessary for life, to stay alive, and cooking is necessary if one wants to stay healthy. But some girls rebel against anything domestic because they don't want to be a maid or mother to a man.

I cook all the time, always have. I cook almost all meals for me and my husband. I don't mind. I know it, it makes the most sense. And two cooks in the kitchen is pretty pointless.

I’d say it has a lot to do with their parents doing everything for them. Not giving them responsibilities at home and increasing them with age. Which would force their kids to learn how to cook, clean and do basic repairs.

I had to learn all that. I had lots of chores. I had to make my breakfast and lunch when I was old enough. Which sparked interest in cooking dinner. If my dad was doing any repairs or upgrades around the house. I had to help him.

Eventually when I got good enough. If I wanted something like an RC car. I had to do something like remove a tree stump, install a sprinkler system or paint a fence.

I don't know any men that can't cook.

I don't know many women who do.

I bake my own bread, grow much of my food in my garden. I've been know to deliver meals to local elderly people who were stuck inside because their health and COVID.

My house is inside a mid/large City (2.4 million in the area) but it's an old farmhouse from 1859 with a large lot even a natural spring I water with. Last year I kept the neighbors supplied with fresh tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, I even had a pumpkin patch. I made lots of pies.

The main reason women could cook back then was because they were expected to stay at home and learn how to do it for their families. Now though, women are off into the work force and don't have time or the motivation to learn how to do it. Also, have you ever considered that some women just don't like cooking? You said yourself that you can cook so why isn't that enough? What can't the entire male population be like you then? Why did it have to be women?

Are you really using a fictional character from a tv show to make a point? 🤦It seems you want to stuck to very traditional gender roles, which you know, is fine, but you don't need to bring women down to validate yourself.

Unfortunately it seems that the younger generations don't have the cooking skills that the generations before then did at the same age. Things have become so quick and convenient in their lives apparently that those skills got left behind... along with problem solving and common sense! If you can read a recipe... you can cook. If a girl says she can't cook, or you see that she has no clue how to cook... then she has no problem solving skills or common sense, because she could have googled that shit or watched a damn YouTube video and figured it out!

I don't know but then to be fair my experiences with cooking as a former sous chef were

My dad cooking a lot growing up because he was taught how to as he is the middle sibling of 4 sisters

My step-Grandad doing all the cooking when we visited him and my Nan

My sous chefing when we had in a year and including myself 9 staff members, all were male

In fact the only women who cooked in my memory were my paternal grandmother and my first girlfriend

There’s less need to learn how to cook in today’s society (for men also).
Microwave and other premade meals are as popular as ever with huge variety.
And when you can just open an app and get a meal sent to your door, cooking yourself just isn’t worth the time

by the way, Carrie isn't a real girl, but it's funny that you should mention her because a friend of mine who absolutely loves that show is also the most fantastic cook I have ever known, as in professional chefs wanted her to work for them, she is so good, but she always turned them down because she didn't want to lose the pleasure she got from doing it by having to do it.

In the UK, girls used to have cookery lessons at school. Most schools stopped them ages ago, so that's one reason. When I was young, my mother and I cooked things together - we had a lot of fun, and I learned a lot, too. I guess a lot of mothers go out to work these days, and just don't have time, so that's another reason. However, guys need to be able to cook as well. It's 2022, not 1950 - girls don't exist to just cook and clean for men

I would assume maybe Because it doesn't seem like a priority to them? Perhaps their parents don't know how to cook to teach their children?
My mom taught me to cook since I was about 7 and I would always make the salads, I would get creative and cut ham into squares and cheese and add it to the top to make it look nicer lol and then I would wait to see everyones face when they would serve themselves to see if I did a good job lol it's funny remembering now

I won’t date someone if they aren’t able to genuinely take care of themselves. Because when I work all day, I don’t wanna come home and take care of them too

Because they bought into this idiocy that it's somehow sexist for a woman to know how to cook. Which is straight up stupid. My grandfather taught me to cook starting at the age of 8 for this exact reason.. Because of that I can cook better than most women.

Either weren't raised right or worse they were and they didn't take heed of the lessons.

Cooking your own meals is a lot cheaper then eating out you save a lot of money, it's healthier to and just better in general.

And it's just one of those basic life skills I think everyone should know.

Upbringing I believe. Parents don't teach this, at least not as often as it used to be. Plus some women think cooking is a symbol of their gender position being low, so they don't want to.
