Has anyone ever dealt with someone orbiting them in social media?

I’ve just realized that someone from high school has been orbiting me for the past 5 years and I’m not sure how to feel about it. My only question is what triggers this type of behavior, in a physiological prospective.

Is that what it's called? I do this when I don't think someone wants to talk to me. So pretty much any girl I've added on social media because I'm too much of a pussy to delete them and potentially get called out for it.
