Now he picked an (I'm sorry) ugly AND rude (as my friends told me) girl over me after he told my friend I'm too pretty for him and that I just told him that because "I'm drunk". All my friends said this guy has self esteem issues and it shows but like this? All my friends said I'd be doing charity work with him but I like him and I never crush on anyone

Guys sometimes show signs of interested to multiple girls at the same time, I think it's not just guy thing. People not always pick someone just by look, you could be objectively more attractive than the girl he is dating right now but she has other qualities he appreciate. I'm not talking about who is better cause everyone wants something different. I bet some guys want you really bad to get into a relationship, you just don't like them back. I don't really like that mind set of "I'd be doing charity" that's a really bad way to cheer you up. You have a crush on him, you really like him and that's perfectly OK but sometimes the feelings are not mutual and you got to respect it. Maybe he is, indeed, insecure about himself and he is playing with some immature attitudes, I doubt it, personally.

I suggest you to go out with your friends, do thing you really enjoy, be the best version of yourself! You'll get the attention of other guys for sure and... who knows? Him? That last thought about him don't put it in your mind so strong or like a goal, better to focus in yourself beauty.

1) the direction in life that he is looking at
2) the type of person she is
3) insecurities
4) the approach you had to him etc

Is he picked another girl then you should accept that he's not the one for you. If you don't accept this fact then you're setting yourself up for heartache. Don't do that to yourself please.

If he has low self-esteem, he probably picked a girl he feels is more "in his league." There's nothing you can do about that. I would suggest moving on.

Yeah it usually goes that way. Happened to me too. You tell someone your feelings and they go and choose someone else even if they showed you or told you they liked you first.
