This guy in my class would always ask me who I liked (jokingly) and what was my type. I never put much thought into because it always seemed like he was joking. Anyway, we’re in a group chat with a few other classmates, and we were meeting up to finish a big project. I forgot to eat, so I texted the group chat asking if anyone had a snack. The guy responded with “I can bring you food. What do you want?” I said “anything” and he bought me a whole meal w/ a drink. He kept asking me if the food was ok and if I wanted anything specific.

I offered to pay him back, but he said not to worry about it. Then, while working on our project, we had to use decorations, and there was a left over rose (it was fake), and he gave it to me. I’m still in awe because I’ve never had a guy treat me this way. So I don't know what to do. I’m 23 and 4 years older than him.

I wouldn't worry about the age gap at all!! He seems interested, start to show some interest back if you like him maybe? You could text him more, offer to get a meal together to makeup for what he has done for you, like a casual way of asking for a date maybe? If you're not interested then just keep it friendly i guess :)

Absolutely he's into you. If he was just being friendly, he would have maybe brought you a bag of chips and maybe a coffee.

And asking about "who you like" is not really something I'd ask someone except as a kind of flirtation: IMHO he's expecting you to read between the lines.

Not saying he's in "love" with you, but that's more than just being friendly. He's into you, either a lot or a little.

I messaged him thanking him for the food and asked if he wanted to be paid back, and he liked my message. That was it. He’s also 4 years younger than me

Well you said earlier he said not to worry. If you asked again and he liked it, that means he'll want to be paid back. 4 years younger though is no big deal. I've dated younger and older by a lot
