A lot of these sugar dating sites also are promoted to college girls. I believe these sites are literally preying on the fact that these girls probably need money since they’re in debt from college or need to pay bills for the house, etc.
And they make big money by convincing girls that being a sugar baby is somehow an empowering girl boss move when in reality there’s nothing empowering about having to be in a relationship with an older man for money.

Former Sugar Baby here, someday I may do a mytake on it.
Am I proud of it, not really but it is something I did, that I can't deny.
I figured since I was doing hook-up's anyways, meeting guys online or in person might as well get something out of it. Sugar dating for me was essentially dating, and sometimes I would get some help out of it.
To avoid prostitution there can be no pre-arranged agreement of sexual acts in exchange for anything. Many sugar babies have sex with their dates who then don't help them in anyway, that is what we called a one date daddy. On the flip side, some girls would demand money up front then ghost or ditch him, even though she promised.
If he offered money or something afterwards, it was not a condition of anything. No sexual requirements on any sugar dates I went on. That just meant we wanted to see him again and he wanted to see us again. They were like any other date, one could do whatever you wanted and expect nothing. If I got nothing, that was it, no second date. If I didn't offer anything, I might not get a second date either from him. Which was a great way to not have to do anything if I wasn't attracted to him.
Manipulation at its finest from both sides. Some men taking advantage of women for sex (as if that doesn't happen from regular dating sites too) and some women trying to trick money out of someone. Don't assume that the young college girls are all being taken advantage of many of them would promise all kinds of sex or favors, if he paid up front and then vanish. Sob stories about how the last guy didn't pay and she is going to be evicted, etc... playing on emotions.
The true babies and daddies wanted things to be long term arrangements, weekly allowances or ppm (weekly is better) and then set schedules for meet ups. It wasn't always sexual either, I did travel some as a companion and friend, I became friends with many people this way. I had some daddies that I never has sex with. One of them just wanted me to lick his feet for $500 dollars each time.
I did make a lot of money doing it though as the well off men wanted to make sure I was taken care of, but don't think they just hand cash over. Often it is taking us shopping. I never considered it a job as I considered it something that could stop at any moment. It is also not easy money, like some would suggest. It is very hard work. I even fell in love with some of them and wanted more myself.
Some people actually switch from sugaring to real dating and have gotten married. Some women who won't give a man the time of day on tinder will give him dates on a sugaring site but won't take his money, it just shows he has his act together as some of those sites do income verification.
Without or without, people always prey on the vulnerable and desperate. This has gone on long before these websites or the internet ever existed. The big thing is no one should be forced to do it, I don't know anyone who was forced into it against their will.
Some babies think they can do it with no actual sex, they don't make much money though. We also can be taught life skills, mentored, one guy even bought me a car to drive around (in his name) as we had a regular thing going all the time. He taught me a bit about what he does for a living and I learned some skills that way that helped me later in my current job.
I never felt it was being promoted by anyone as a good way to make money, I still don't.
It is no more dangerous than meeting someone from a dating site online, always meet in public until you get comfortable, and prioritize your safety. I would tell guys, my safety was my highest priority, not what he wanted. A good person would respect that.
Because, my GOD the standards of decency, propriety, hard work, self reliance, and SELF RESPECT have gone right out the window! Girls of MY generation have grown up without fathers in the home, and schools are actively making it worse by teaching that the nuclear family is somehow racist, and needs to be destroyed! So to with objective facts, and we’re taught that “judging” anyone else’s personal behavior as wrong or immoral, is actually WORSE than whoring yourself out to an old man for a roof over your head and a new car every year! Instead of openly acknowledging that this sort of behavior is wrong, and teaching girls to be self reliant, they are teaching us that hard work, showing up on time, personal accountability and rigid ethical standards are “constructs of the heteronormative cis-white patriarchy”, and therefore must be torn down! It simply looks to me that the people do actual not read their employment contract... almost every job has its own work risk, some lesser than others, but companies are not dumb. They ensure every trouble stays away from them...

It is not because they are raped, assaulted, or abused, that I believe it is unwise, because that almost never happens. Don't confuse SBs with sex workers. Even sex workers shouldn't criminalized, and we should be working to criminalize the people that buy them, not the women themselves.
Regarding SBs, I've been one for years to two guys, and they paid my way through college. I have not had a single negative experience. If you want to advocate on behalf of someone, you need to listen to their experiences. Even the ones that you disapprove of.

You're assuming that women who are SBs get no satisfaction from the arrangement besides $$$, and that men who engage in the practice only want sex. You should actually examine a site for SBs and ask them directly what they think, how they feel about it, before you call it predatory. I do not feel victimized or preyed upon, and neither do my friends who partake in it.

it's not for everyone. I have had a few sugar relationships and in all I have never expected sex. I used to be one of those girls and I thought it was normal because I was grown. No I was not I was a child. Men say well 18-24 is legal but they say that to hide something else it’s not normal at all especially since other men have expressed to me that men like that are infect perverts but okay.

I honestly blame the porn industry.
