Of course not. Shy is just a reticence to share publicly who they are. Shy doesn't necessarily belie a lack of something other than confidence.
What matters is who people are WHEN they share (and how long they take to open up.) What compatibilities and incompatibilities exist between the two people/characters/personalities? That's the real key.
And do they have, or can they learn, how to communicate effectively? That's the other key factor.

Personally I wouldn't but some girls might do it because they would be looking for someone more outgoing and less in their shell.

It can take time to nurture a strong relationship with a guys who won't open up to you as easily as a guy who's not as shy
