Shy Guys: Would you reject a girl because you are too shy to be with her?

If a girl you really liked asked you out or even boldly stated she liked you, would you be too shy to accept her invitation?

A guy I have been into for several months is very girl shy and it's been A LOT of work getting him to come out of his shell. It's obvious to me and everyone around us that he really likes me, too. However, when I told him I liked him he simply stated he did not want to date a coworker. Now he's going way out of his way to avoid me when he used to go way out of his way to see me and be wherever I was. I'm not sure how to take this. I'm sure and so are the people we work with that he really likes me and we're wondering if the shyness is a contributing factor in the rejection and avoiding..

Does he honestly not want to date coworkers or is this just an excuse because he is too shy to accept my invitation? How should I take and handle the avoiding thing?

I think he feels pressured. I mean since he now knows that you like him that he doesn't know what else to do or how to approach things with you. He feels nervous and worried and not relaxed at all. Tell me are you two good friends in the office or just co workers? Do you guys talk well to each other? And if not maybe that's the problem. And since everyone else thinks he likes you that also adds the pressure on bein with u. I say act normal around, get to know him better, talk to him as if you don't have any feelings for him at all or as a friend. He has to feel comfortable with this and so do you too. I know this because I have dealt with this problem as well with my guy and believe me he's not the shy type I am, But I now know why he acts like that so now I'm tryin to ease off the tension and make it more relaxed and natural. After all a relationship lasts longer when its all natural and at the right time than one that was forced to be together or say pressured.

Or at least in my opinion.

We are in a large office but dif departments. Not good friends; more like coworker friends. We don't talk often but when we do we have really good, fun, deep conversation. It's was obvious the attraction was there but things were getting awkward because it wasn't going anywhere so I told him how I felt. I thought it would help him to know I wouldn't reject him. He used to go out of his way to see me now he's going out of his way to avoid me. I'm also wondering if he thinks it's a joke or trick...

Sorry so late. Anyways, I understand what you`re going through, but maybe You should be more patient. Guys don't want to rush, they want to get to know the girl they like & possibly be in relationship w/. I think mayb you should talk to him casually and get to know him better. Act as if ur jz talking to a friend or as if you don't like him anymore. Make it comfortable for him to be around you & by doing that you have to be comfortable round him as well. Relax and act like nothings happened. B Confident k.

On the other hand, not dating coworkers is generally a good idea™. If the relationship goes sour, you generally don't want to have it foul up your job in the process...
