Do shy girls reject guys they like because they are too shy?

Actually, yes.

I very recently rejected a guy bc I wasn't sure what the next step should be with him once he came on to me.

I'd been waiting for months for him to make a move and there it was... Right at the three month marker too, like fucking clockwork...

But instead of thanking my lucky stars, kissing the ground and lighting a gratitude candle to God... I kept my cool and through to myself... we've been drinking and having a good time, but let me wait and see if he does this again when we're sober.

Why did I do it? He had a track record of failed relationships and while he was very bombastic about paying attention to me that day I couldn't tell if he was being sincere or if he was just hung over and horny, you know?

Part of my mode of thinking DOES come from the fact that I'm shy and private when it comes to my relationships. I like to keep things on the quieter side... have private moments that build up to something AND THEN go public when I know that there's something solid to go public with... Meanwhile he likes to parade around and show "his best girl" off for some reason I couldn't understand... knowing that he has whoever he's been sleeping with waiting expectantly in the rafters for him...

Was it stupid on my part to panic and put a stop to everything? Perhaps. But I would have rather he respect my need for a certain way of doing things. I'm also glad I didn't allow things to go further because he supposedly was seeing someone (which I didn't know at all at the time), so my hunches about him were right.

Additionally, as part of my job I do have to deal with guys who make bombastic displays all the time. It would be too draining to have to deal with that in my personal life as well.

I am sure that it does happen but most often shy people, regardless of the gender will reject those that want to get into their pants because they know better not to mess with them.

It is one thing to be shy but a totally different one to know what these attempts are all about. We all know what guys truly want when hitting on a girl. The best and only reasonable answer to give to those clumsy attempts is to rejected that person.

Also, very frequently, those guys are players and probably bet with buddies about who is going to get into the pants of that victim first.

I Think The Intention Is Irrelevant As Long As You Can Still Give Your Consent Or Say No If You Want. While It Seems You Are Focusing A Little Too Much On What The Guy Wants Like It Can Pass Without You Actually Wanting The Same Thing. When You Say "We all know what guys truly want when hitting on a girl" You Might Be Forgetting That Sex Is Inevitable In Most Cases When There's A Growing Intimate Connection, It Also Assumes That If You Were Hitting On A Guy You Like, It Wouldn't Be About Something That Would Lead To Sex At All.

That probably happens a lot because of their shy personality. I had a friend like that in high school. No matter how many times she was approached, she would clam up.
