Could you be with someone who rides?

Risk of mechanical failure, human error, animals, and a number of others pose risks to the rider. Sort of like dating a cop.

There is no changing their mind. You have to ride yourself to understand.

What are your thoughts? Would you learn to ride yourself?

No, motorcycles are dumb. People who ride them when there are cars around have the common sense god gave a chicken.
It's not in the forefront of other driver's minds to look for motorcycles, because they are not a threat to their life like another car is. Nobody is ever thinking "I have to watch out for motorcycles" because the motorcycles to not cause them to fear for their life like an oncoming truck. Plus cars never see them because they are so small. I talked to my friend's dad who was a cop for like 30 years, and he said all the drivers who hit motorcycle riders with their cars days the same thing- "I never even saw him". My dad got hit by cars 2 different times on his motorcycle, both times it was the car driver's fault. One time he broke his femur and hit his head on the edge of a curb, his helmet came off in 2 pieces, split in two by the edge of the curb. The second time he broke his back, and then he quit riding because he wanted to keep living. He decided there were too many cars on the road in L. A. to survive.
Riding motorcycles would be fine if you were only on the road with other motorcycles, but you're not. You're surrounded on the road by much bigger cars that can kill you, and half of them are driven by idiots in a hurry who are not paying attention.

I have owned and raced motorcycles since I was 16. Harley, Indian, both road bikes and TT dirt track. Honda off-road, Suzuki, and Kawasaki.

As a woman that loves bikes, I'd personally love a guy that's a biker! Even moreso if we went riding together!

I mean yes, they're dangerous, but people get in car wrecks too... hell, any vehicle can technically be "dangerous" when you're on the road with other people. Just practice safe driving, make sure they're aware of your presence, and wear a helmet.

Oh you mean like my 2009 Honda Shadow Aero that I ride? I'd be kind of crazy to not want to be with someone when I have my own.

While riding on the back is fun, I'd rather drive myself and he can ride on the back or better yet get his own when he complains I should be on the back cause my hair is in his face.

I watched someone basically kill themselves by trying to show off and pop a wheelie on the freeway… It was awful. So, as long as he is careful and smart about it.

Back in the day, I lived near the Blue Ridge Mountains. I called a girl I was talking with and invited her on what ended up being a 300 mile day. I had one of the most romantic weekends of my life. We went over the Cherohala Skyway...  and up to the Cherokee Reservation. When we got back, the best ride began.

I knew a few people in the past who owned a motorcycle and they were pretty reckless. One of these people was the boyfriend of a former colleague of mine. She was in the same shift as me working in a gas station and one evening her boyfriend came by his cross motorbike. He decided to show off by doing 120 km/h (75 mph) on the rear wheel (the front wheel was in the air) but he didn't take into account the waveform of the asphalt. Yes, the "waveform" bc that stretch hadn't seen repairs for 35 years before that evening. This resulted in him sliding on his back next to his bike. When he stopped, he couldn't move and all of the skin from his back had remained on the asphalt.
I've also read (quite recently, I might add) about motorbikers in my country (we call them "rockers" bc the most of them listen to hard rock) who had an accident on the highway and literally lost their heads as a result of the impact.

I wouldn't like to fall for a rocker and some day to get a visit by cops or doctors to tell me I'll never see them again. That's why the answer is firmly a "NO"!

I ride with my friends with benefits Stevie. He has a motorcycle the size of a small car.

It has a 6 cylinder engine and 7 speeds. It would be way to big for me to ride but maybe a small one I would consider, but I think I prefer just riding on the back with him for now.

I use to ride in tank top and shorts or mini skirt, but now he makes me ride with armored clothing and an air vest on for protection.

Another thing I like about riding with him is he has a fetish for finding secluded areas to do naughty things outdoors and I would hate to give that up... lol

I wouldn't date someone that didn't like to ride, either themselves or as a passenger.
They would be alone quite often.
I had a scooter before I had my drivers license, and I can still remember the day I got my temps so I could ride on the road.
the feeling was so great, freedom, the wind blowing, just being on the road at 45mph on my Vespa with the slightly bent front wheel.
It was still great.
I have ridden in all of the 48 lower states, Canada, Mexico & Hawaii.
I used to race motocross, was pretty good at that, and have 2 bikes in the garage.
So for me I am fine with it, for others, it just isn't their thing, which is fine, I would just find someone else.

I grew up on dirt bikes my wife and kids kinda put a stop to me riding I’ve broke several bones like several bones but the feeling of hitting a jump as hard as you can and you’re just flying easily high enough to clear a house no problem and I am the wheelie king I could go for miles doing a wheelie run through all my gears going up hills down hills turn corners and all so hell yes I would I tried to teach my wife years ago but she couldn’t take her eyes off the front tire and as I’m trying to give a couple last minute reminders to her she just pops the clutch and takes off so I had to chase her down in my boxers barefooted in the high desert I caught her though

Mechanical failure is really only an issue with Harley Davidsons.
I ride a Japanese knockoff that is far better engineered than the original.
An old biker joke is that the greatest expense involved in owning a Harley Davidson is the recovery vehicle and mechanic who have to follow the motorcycle at a discreet distance.

My wife said it was a deal breaker. She is a physical therapist and had seen plenty of guys all busted up from motorcycle accidents. I had my learners permit and was shopping for a bike when we met.
I bought a 4 wheel drive vehicle and I had fun with that instead.

I was with a man that used to ride a motorcycle and the idea of it terrified me. I’ve been on a Honda motorcycle but I rode it in a friends backyard. I couldn’t get the hang of it and it just never felt comfortable for me.
So I think I could be with someone who rides but it would worry me sick!

I ride everyday and i teach new riders on constant basis.

Biggest mistake most make is to act like the streets are a playground. And just race on them.

It's actually more safer than cars when you pay attention.

As someone with little experience with riding or relationships the idea sounds extremely exciting. I would inevitably get all into riding too if I was totally into her (would I even be with her if I wasn't?) But it would be a lot of riding in the back seat until I got my own bike

No never and it´s kind of a dealbreaker to me. At school times two guys had severe accidents in the area close to our school, that they survived with a lot of luck. They wore all the protection clothes that bikers normally have but that wasn´t much of help for them.
They had to repeat a whole school year because of that.

haha I recently thought of this and my mind ALSO compared it to cops. No, I thought about it and my mind says no. There are WAYYYYYY to make risks to driving a motorcycle. It is SOOOOO easy to become a pancake if you ride your motorcycle all the time; especially if you tend to driver on the faster side. If I had to ride a motorcycle I would drive under the speedlimit.

I have a cousin who was in a really bad motorcycle accident a few years ago, so that kind of solidified my anxiety about motorcycles.
I can't say whether I would or wouldn't be with someone who rides a motorcycle, but I feel like I'd always be worried about them getting in a terrible accident.

It’s not really my thing especially after coming across an accident where a person on a sports bike got killed in a pretty brutal way.

I’d probably worry about them whenever they got on it due to the amount of motorcycle accidents that happen here. But as long as they stayed safe and took precautions I’d be ok with it.
