Is having trust issues mean you insecure? I think those are 2 different things?

He has gave me reason to have trust issues. He has cheated in the past and lied to me. We have been working things out because we both want to. Anyways I’m not insecure of myself or jealous at all but u definitely have a issue trusting. Not only with him im a relationship but with other people. I don’t think that’s insecure. Or am I wrong

Yes. You actually said it yourself. To be insecure is to be not secure , assured, confident, etc. You said your partner has given you reasons to have trust issues. So, he has given you reasons to not be secure, to not be assured, to not be confident. You're not secured of your partner nor your relationship because you do not trust him, therefore, you are insecure. You are insecure in your relationship. You can be secure in your self image but insecure in how others handle you.

Trust issues... most of the time, trust issues come after bad experiences we have had in the past, whether is one time or repeatedly, being betrayed or disappointed, let down... it will erode our confidence in others but also on ourselves as an effect

Insecurity... insecurity is that feeling of uncertainty that we have when we lack confidence, could be in ourselves, on others... or both

while it is true that the two are different things... in this case they are connected, because when it becomes an ISSUE, it happens because we've become insecure about us as much about others and the situations we get into

there are other components yes, always... but insecurity is usually the main one
