Not at all. It is a gentlemanly gesture in my book.
I’m confused. I did it for a close female friend as she looked like she was struggling as her jacket got tangled up and she got annoyed.
She is overreacting then. It is a simple and kind gesture. Be it friend, boyfriend or husband.
I would never mind someone doing that. I think it is sweet tbh.
She was in a bad mood though to be fair. But I’m worried she thought it was sexist or something. Or maybe she thought I was trying to act like a boyfriend?
Should I say something to her? I’m fine if she wants to express that she’s not happy about something. But I’m upset by her tone of voice.
You can say something if you want. Is she still upset over it? Seems petty to be still upset over an honest mistake. Like how would you know she was going to be offended?
If you want to say something, I suppose you could say "Hey, sorry about the other day when I tried to help with your coat. I really was just trying to be gentlemanly and give you a hand. I didn't realize that it would make you upset or you would have taken offense. My apologies."
Or something to that effect.
I apologised at the time.
But she seems to always snap when I’m trying to help.
That is very strange, tbh. Most girls welcome help. I certainly do. I think it is sweet/cute when a guy goes out of his way to be and gentleman.
Some say it’s sexist
Some might. I don't. My SO is always opening doors, pulling chair out, helping with coat or holding umbrella. I find all those types of things very sweet.
I just feel upset that a nice gesture got an angry reaction.
I don't blame you at all.
But I don’t know if I should just let it go. I don’t want to hold a grudge. And I’m worried if I say something, she’ll just get angry.
I think just let it go. Lesson learned about her. She doesn't like it for some reason. No need to say anything unless you want to apologize, which you already have.
