My boyfriend called me stupid so I said “I’m done with you” and I hung up. was I overreacting?

That was 2 days ago and he still hasn’t called to apologize so I’m wondering if I was in the wrong.

At first I said “did you really just call me stupid” and he said “well if you think like that yes” then that’s when I said “I want a break, I’m done with you” and then he was talking and then

I don’t know why he called you stupid or why the fight even happened, but he was wrong to call you stupid. That is a BIG red flag. The fact that he didn’t try to contact you afterwards, shows that he doesn’t value the relationship. I would fight as hell for my relationship and at least try calling the other person back. Your better off without him in my opinion.

However, it sounds like you want him back. If you do decide to get back with him, you guys need to work on communication. Learn how to speak with each other even when your mad at the other person. Maybe this is a lesson you can take into your next relationship.

I don't think you overreacted but it does sound like you're second guessing yourself because him not calling has hurt your feelings. The thing is where you really ready for the breakup or did you just say that in the heat of the moment to defend yourself? Because, really when you're done with someone, you wouldn't care if they called or not.

Why would he call to apologize if you just broke up with him? Obviously I don’t know the whole story but if he called you stupid and you broke up with him, 1. I would say you overreacted and 2. I think you should call him first.

You did say you were done and broke up with him. I see no reason for your ex boyfriend to called you back. I am not saying that he m calling stupid is okay. But it same the both of you have a lot of growing up to do.
