Should he have to choose?

My boyfriend has these two female friends that he has known before me. They aren't girls that he flirts or does anything with, one is married and one is lesbian. These two girls don't like me and gossip about me. Its really the lesbian one who hates me and tries to get me to turn against my boyfriend. I have a gut feeling my boyfriend is taking their side and talking behind my back. At the same time he talks bad about them to me. I think he's playing both sides and don't know what to do.
Should he have to choose?
