Do you hate it when people mispronounce your name?

The only annoying part is that part usually get it wrong in a way that wouldn't work with English phonetics, sometimes even *after* they've heard me pronounce it. So far I've been able to resist the temptation to just spell it out in Ogham, but I question whether that'll last. See, my last name is Irish. The Irish language, for thousands of years, had no common written form, and then one day, a monk (probably), who'd learned Latin, decided he was going to lay out a coherent system of writing for Irish, that everybody would learn and be able to use. It'd be simple and elegant, like the Greek one.

Then he drank two quarts of corn liquor and laid out the Irish phonetic system as it is today.

No, I'm used to it. It's very difficult for people to pronounce my name outside of Japan. I go by a shortened nickname as a result when it comes to English speakers who ask for my name.

I mean it's not that he says it wrong. It's more of the accent thing. There are two ways of pronouncing my name. One is ''correct'' while the other one is less used (it's specific to the dialect of this one city, and I only know two people who pronounce it that way haha).

No, not at all. It's extremely rare anyone pronounces mine correctly the first time anyway. I'm used to it.
