It's not often that people call me the wrong name to my face, but today, one of the dental assistants called me "Isabella" (which is technically not my government name) and he said it more than once. I was confused because obviously my forms that were in his hand would say my actual name. I didn't bother correcting him because it's just a variation of my name anyway. At least he didn't call me "Elizabeth." 😂

1 yYeah! I am not the type of person who likes correcting people when they state something factually incorrect, well not in the real world. I'm actually a very shy and unless I'm with close friends, I'm actually very introverted. I'm certainly the "quiet one" in my closet group of friends. But if someone gets my name wrong, I will definitely correct them. I believe it's the kind thing to do, because I know how mortified I would feel if I knew someone for several months, then said "okay Bob, I'll see you in class on Thursday", only to have someone turn to me and say "did you just call him Bob? His name is ROB!" OMG! I would just want to crawl into a hole and die! That would be the worst! My first thought would be "why the hell didn’t he say something?"
I get called Lori all the time. I just politely say "It's Laura, not Lori" and if it happens again, then I again politely tell them the same thing, but add "Lot-AH" at the end. I've never had anyone misstate my name after that.
Hope this helped.
Laura 🤗 🥰 (Lor-AH) 😁10 Reply

u 1 yRarely ever. I’ve got a very different name and most people butcher the pronunciation. I let people call me whatever they want to unless they’re someone important in my life.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yI have a super common name; Daniel. The closest thing I get to people pronouncing my name wrong is calling me "Danny" instead of "Dan" or "Daniel."
I don't bother correcting people if they call me "Danny."

10 Reply352 opinions shared on Other topic. Lol almost all the time people get it wrong for some reason, I just laugh and go along with it most of the time because it’s very amusing the names people mixed it up 😂

1 yFirst day of class I always asked if I pronounced it correctly AND if they wanted to be called something else. Most people are understanding but I'm tired and frustrated that people can't WRITE my name correctly.
10 Reply 919 opinions shared on Other topic. @beebella 🐝 That would be annoying for sure. My name has a very low liklihood of being butchered. I actually don't think it's ever happened.
10 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Other topic. No, it's pointless anyway. Most non Slavic foreigners are incapable to speak my name out. It contains 'rz', and it sounds like s in Vision.

You say that foreigners can't pronounce your name, but what about British people?

1 yNow... I usually don't bother to memorize a name of someone new; after a few minutes it will be gone.
So why would I be fuzzy about my own name...

1 yIts never happened to me, because my first name's a pretty easy name, and you'd have to be a colossal retard to fuck it up, and my surname isn't too hard to pronounce, but I do have to spell it out to people.
Simples...

1 yAll the time when they mispronounce the last name. They usually say “Van” instead of “Von”. It really pisses me off. Sometimes, I have to yell at them to get them to say it right.

1 yAt first, I didn’t correct people. But I was also told correct him every time they will remember who you are because of the interaction it is your name it has meaning.

1 yMost people say it as Steven when my name has a ph in it (which is supposed to sound the same way) but a lot of people also say it as Stephan or Stefan (which I hate)
