I met somebody and asked her to go out with me. I wanted to take her to a show in the city. It was somebody I really liked and thought she would like it too. She spent the whole time talking with a bunch of strangers that were sitting near us. She was not paying much attention to the show or to me. i thought she was rude and I really put a lot of thought into this and really wanted it to work out. I was a little bit heart broken.

I try to make every first date a nice date. I usually meet her for dinner at a nice, somewhat upscale restaurant, if I have come to the date from work I am usually wearing a suit, and after dinner, we usually relocate to the restaurant's lounge or another lounge just a short walk from the restaurant.

Some women think that treating them that nice is a sign of desperation, or they may be concerned that I am one of those guys who expects "something" in return for giving them an enjoyable evening. Sometimes, women think that if this date is a clue about my lifestyle, that I may be out of their league. I have heard all of these "explanations" for why a woman doesn't want a second date. And I have also heard a number of obvious excuses.

I guess if you start second guessing yourself you will never go out with anyone.

That's called an only date. Only happened to me once. I got reservations at a fancy restaurant. It was our only date. I'm really not sure if she didn't like the date or didn't like me, but it was the only date we ever had. She actually blocked me on the dating site a few weeks later.

Yes! Planned an afternoon outdoors and then dinner. Instead of having a nice nature walk getting to know each other, she spent the time complaining that the walk was making her new shoes dirty.
after a few more dates it wasn’t going anywhere and I called it quits. The first date really set the tone

nope, never ever planned for any dates... I rather be spontaneous and suggest things on the spot, or they did... some of the best times we've had were things, ideas that came out in the moment and it turned out to be great

for example, one time we crashed a wedding after-party as we were just walking by the place while they were all arriving to it... lol

Sadly yes I have done this. Of course after that happened the first date turned out to be the last one. In retrospect I think I dodged a bullet.
