Why won’t my boyfriend say the love word?

So i been dating my boyfriend for a while now and even though he’s very affectionate he has never told me he loves me. Yes he says it to friends and his mother of course but to me no, never. So last night i asked him how come we are together he said “are you serious rightnow obviously i care babe its only one answer in the world to your question keep playing stupid if you want” … i know most of you will say just ask him well he won’t say it its soooo weird
