Should women pay on dates (read description)?

I'm all for equality. So feminists always say there's a huge gender pay gap. Men make more money. Let's assume this is true.

So when you're on a date that means in the time he could have made way more money than her. So he lost more money by meeting her. Shouldn't she compensate him, cause she didn't lose as much?

Women like to be treated special and men like to think their valued. So naturally women like men to pay and men feel their women appreciate the action and thus respond favorably. Lets be honest this is the way is had been for ever and this is the truth. Just cause now we have idiots that think as women if a man pays she HAS to put out or it somehow makes her feel less capable is on them. That being said from a mans perspective...
Man pays and she's just on her phone or she's using him for free food (happens a lot in college) and a man feels used... he's gotta ask many women on dates to find a good one the same as her but he's always expected to pay.

From a woman's perspective...
If he refuses to treat me right why should i care for him. he's broke and can't even afford our little date? He values me so little.

there's also the types of men that are angry. They have been used so many times or they were never taught to respect women they do it for fun. Dont get me wrong women cause this by being trash as well but at some point men might just say women ain't shit and move on. If you want me prove it is what they say. Though if you think about it... is prove it so bad? less romantic sure but show me im valuable and ill treasure you. Men are expected to make the first move, pay, plan, purpose... At some point you gotta do more than look good and say the right stuff.

Why would we assume that men make more money? As far as I've seen this is disputed, and there are many more nuances to it than just making a sweeping judgement.
Anyway, I don't think it should be assumed that the man will pick up the tab, certainly not expected. Women ought to be prepared to pay their way and should agree dates they can afford in that spirit.
Personally, I'm always happy to pay, but it would put me off if I got the vibe she expected it and/or was taking advantage of it

i'm just making a logically coherent argument that is based on a commonly used bullshit argument. there's only a pay gap if you ignore everything that corelates with incume income and only look at income by gender.

I am a firm believer that you should always split the check on the first few dates. It's only fair and it removes any possibility he will expect something in return for paying for the date if you know what I mean.

With all of the advancements in toward gender equality I hate that we have not moved beyond the expectation that the man should pay for the date. I know a lot of guys do it because they want to but a lot also do it because they think we expect it and will judge them if he lets us pay our share, which is just wrong.

With that, while I was never into splitting checks on dates, I was perfectly OK with paying for dates around 1/2 the time.

I'd also add that the assumption that the man makes more money can be seriously flawed. I make about 2X what my husband does... we're both OK with that !!!

dates should always be assumed as "i pay for mine, you pay for yours" UNLESS specified otherwise. Regardless of their pay grades, etc. Its not a case of trying to one up your date or need "compensating". If you think like that, you need to step out of the dating game

I think typically dates should be payed 50 50. You pay for one date then I plan one and pay. I'm always for spoiling the guy and taking him out sometimes as well. It's nice to pay sometimes

i happen to be in social science, so i know that better than most people. in this day and age, everyone uses information. lots of guesstimations, heresay and bullshit. as someone who isn't actually in social science i understand that it's hard to see who's right, when 2 groups are claiming opposite things.
