My boyfriend never knows how to plan dates?

there has been a few times where he has told me he wants to go out but there is nothing to do and nowhere to go. So we usually just stay home. before we started dating I went through his phone and he was on Instagram texting other females asking them to go to comedy clubs with him. It seems like he only have trouble finding places to go with me but with random females no he can easily pick places for them to go. is that weird? Im not a picky person andl and we have went out a handful of times since I’ve known him but only to the movies
