Why are women so critical about the physical appearance of men?

I think men are more critical and care more about appearance than women but appearance is an important factor to many people including me. I can't be romantically involved with someone that I'm not attracted to. If I form a connection with someone I'm not attracted to it will end in a friendship. He doesn't have to be the perfect looking guy but i should feel some form of physical attraction.

No I disagree, most women aren't attracted to skinny and fat men. there's tons of guys that like skinny and fat women

Point taken. I don't know if that's true or not for most women, but for me personally I've dated both skinny and fat guys and have been attracted to both because both had different qualities/attractive traits that I was attracted to other than the shape of their bodies.
