It means he is either controlling or insecure; he is either trying to lock you into a situation you can't escape where he will subjugate and destroy you or he wants to try to stop you from escaping because he can't really believe that you like him.

Sounds like a religious nut, in any case you should point these things out and see what you learn but most likely the best thing to do would be leave.

Its your life though, only you can know whether or not there is something worthwhile to you here.

Not true. Marriage is a legal state that is not easily undone. It's foolish for a young person to rush into a marriage with someone they haven't known long. It's more foolish for them to have children with someone they don't really know.
