Try to look and word it in a different way this is my belief that we are all soul mates because we all come from the same place we all have 98% of the same DNA what you have to figure out is who the person is from the inside out you have to be 100% honest with yourself and that's going to be hard to do because you are already in love with the guy or things about him in the first week we know that person is for us or not but we're never honest with ourselves we question ourselves in that first week like you would never believe we wait things out we even ask ourselves is this the person is this the one and we answer ourselves yes or no but we forget about all that because there's some sort of happiness because it's in that moment that we only see the good we don't listen to ourselves and that's what you have to do that will tell you if he's the guy for you but you have to be honest with yourself

The honest answer is that the moment of realization is going to be different for everyone. What I can tell you from personal experience, is when I realized my now wife is my sould mate. Your soul mate share more than just common likes, dislikes, romantic feelings, and a feeling that you can't be without them. It's knowing that you would give up anything and everything for them. It's also understanding you have your own unique weaknesses, those of which your soul mate may have strengths. Of course your strengths maybe the weaknesses they have. When you come together, you can make up for their flaws with your own strengths, and vice-versa. You complete one another, becoming a functional team, and you eventually inherit the others strengths. It something that you will feel and through growth, it will dawn on you out of nowhere. I know this wasn't a clear cut or simple answer, but humans are complex in this sense.

Take a series of tests together. Talk about the deep issues and the complex details and see if you're compatible with one another. Then spend time together hanging out (In Person) and figure out what kind of chemistry you have.
