He also said meet him at his job on break? I declined because none of these are dates to me it’s really weird and a turn off. My idea of a date is getting a meal or snack and relaxing and talking. Was I wrong or was this weird?

This is funny. If the most important thing about a date was getting to know the guy, then it wouldn't really matter if you went to a park, or at his job on his break. This is where he's gone wrong. He thinks the date is about you getting to know him. He will learn though.

A park date is nice because it's free. You shouldn't ALWAYS have to spend just to go out, in my opinion.
