Is he being selfish?

So my fiance and I are going to church it's been awhile since we went. So he wants to go early so he can go hoop like an hour later and I don't think that's fair. I feel it's being selfish like he can play basketball anytime. I told him it's something I wanted to do first before his friends messaged him about it.
