Why is it so hard to get a woman to open up to you emotionally especially when you invest years?

Says who? I am open with my partner and have been from the start. I am not sure what experience you have had that a girl wasn't emotionally open. I can think of my closest friends and their relationships and say with certainty they were open with their boyfriend/girlfriend.

Sounds to me like you didn't meet the right girl. Communication and trust are key in a relationship and that would include being open about your feelings. Without that, you don't have much of a relationship.

Both myself and my SO are very open with our emotions, thoughts and needs. There is no reason not to be. If there is something wrong, I will tell him and same goes for him. Not communicating those sorts of things are a recipe for a failed relationship.

Weird, I've opened up to my friends and partners fairly readily - though not always to the full extent, since they couldn't handle that. They weren't mature enough to handle everything, just what they expected and saw in their mothers.

Which isn't what you get when you date someone as a partner.

Maybe they didn't think you could handle it, or you made them feel too unsafe to open up.

1) she never opened up = picked the wrong female

2) she was open, but is no longer. Often a result of inequalities distribution of chores, dismissing her complaints, not getting along with her social circle.
