Is it creepy for a 24 year old male to be with a 18 year old female, and why?

Just curious. A close friend of mine 6 months ago finished getting his doctorate in college and met an 18 year old the day he graduated and they've been together 6 months now happily. Interesting enough a lot of single older women are mad at him now for dating down in age. What do y'all think?

I actually had that dynamic for a bit, I met the guy at 17 he was 23, then when I turned 18 we started dating, we’re together for about a year then broke up. Once I turned 24 my frame of mind was so different, like I would’ve never dated someone 18 when there’s so much potential in my age range. More mature, more life experience, an actual job possibly with good pay, legal drinking age so we could go out, etc etc. So I wouldn’t say creepy, just not very smart.

18 is awfully young when you're a grad student AND 24. She's a kid in comparison. But if they're enjoying themselves, everyone's legal et al. No harm or foul.

It’s not creepy, it’s just not common. If both parties are doing what they can to make it work, then way to go for them. It’s not a common situation, but if they make it work then I don’t see the problem. Of course not everyone can operate this way so many people will find it unwise or unusual. Only reason I would be against it is if I knew it wouldn’t last or one of them (or both of them) were dating that person for the wrong reasons.
