Why is it people find it creepy if someone 25-29 mid to late 20s dating or in a relationship with a legal aged teen 18-19?

My fiancé is 18, I turn 25 in October and I get people would wonder what on earth would we have in common given he is new out of school, meanwhile I graduated 6 years ago and I’ve been an adult for nearly 7 years but he’s the most incredible guy in the whole world despite him being younger than me, I’ve connected with him more than guys my own age and I did try to date in my range but it just didn’t work out! His family knows my age too and doesn’t mind me being older. His emotionally abusive ex was the same age as him and it completely destroyed his heart. I don’t think it should be a problem on either gender dating as long as that person treats their partner right.

It's risky when you do it and especialy if it's rushed.

- Big difference in overall life experience

- You're rushing marriage if you're already engaged

- He's much less likely to know what he wants or even who he is than you

- In 7 years he'll be 25, but you'll be 32. You'll likely be looking for kids if you haven't already, although he might not even be ready yet.

I am not saying you guys shouldn't be together, but it's just weird due to the risk factors and how big of a difference it is maturity wise.

That's the way it was with my first girlfriend. I was about to turn 25, she was about to turn 19 and nobody thought it was at all creepy! How is anybody gonna know how old you are if you don't tell them? Dad was 81 when he died and some of the people at the funeral couldn't believe he was more than 61! I saw a guy on a bus a decade ago who looked like he was about 30, or so. He said that he's actually 60!!

because 18 is they youngest age of consent. People may assume that you're after someone who's naïve, childlike and easy to control. I know I'm technically an adult but I sure don't feel like I am. I lot of people even mistake me for a highschooler eventhough I'm In collage. It should that there's a blurred line between young adult and teenager.18-21 is a very iffy age range. a lot can change in a person in those years.

Because they are a teenager and still basically a kid. Where you are an adult. Also if you live in America the kid can't even go to bars as he is underage

First of all, I don’t drink. Second of all, it seems you’re basing this all off a number which makes total sense legally too and I’m going to love my future kids to death with all my heart but I can’t control or pick who they date, to me as long as that person cares about them and is with them for the right reasons. How is it possible that I tried to connect with a guy who was my age 24, and he wasn’t ready for commitment? How is it possible I even dated a few 30 year old men who just wanted sex? And no way would I want to date a man twice my age. Makes 0 sense you’re probably a woman who likes grandpas anyways when literally nobody will notice when my guy is 25 and I’m 32 either as if they’d probably more notice a 25 year old woman with a 60 year old man.. just saying.

They generally only find it weird if the older person is a male. If it's an older woman with a younger guy, people usually aren't very put off by it.

True, it’s more of a judgment when the male is older I’ve definitely seen that. I think it’s because women are more vulnerable tbh and men are naturally curious from a young age sexually, physically, and emotionally. At least in my opinion.

Why would you want to date an 18 year old? 18 is basically a child. You’re much better off trying to date someone who around 25 to 30. They have fully developed mentally and have much more life experience.

I’ve been there and I’ve done that. I attempted to date somebody my age before actually several people, and it didn’t work out unfortunately. One guy from school exact same age said he couldn’t offer commitment. This was a guy struggling with addiction, playing with girls hearts and partying YUP at 24 years old that’s what he’s doing. I’ve met 30 year olds who asked to be friends with benefits and I clearly don’t do that. They also have high body counts and it’s a turn off majorly.

You can do what you want, I just think it would have a much better outcome in the long run. I just can’t even imagine dating someone who has age restrictions on stuff that they can do. I would almost feel like I’m babysitting.

And I’m not disagreeing either saying some people can’t have common interests with different aspects in life with age at times. That is true that can happen. We actually like similar things tho. I know I’m older but I love stranger things like him, video games, paranormal stuff, similar music tastes etc. Another thing to keep in mind tho, not everyone goes out and drinks alcohol lol. I’ve never liked alcohol much. I quit drinking a couple years ago actually so it’s not a problem for me and him. I’d rather go mini golfing or to an amusement parks. I’m one of those responsible mid 20s adults with a teen heart I guess.

when I was 23 I tried to date a 19 year old... it was not fun. We didn't have much in common. It didn't last more than a month
