Boyfriend distances himself after getting vulnerable with me. Why?

Been in a relatively short relationship that has seen us go through in months what most go through in years. A very strong connection. Also, the relationship has progressed a lot but we've both been cautious. Usually at opposite times though, haha.

A pattern emerges that he will bare his soul to me and pour out his fears and insecurities to me. He will tell me he loves me and that I am so important to him. I reciprocate, naturally. Then he will withdraw on me. Like a switch flipped.

Are there any of you men that do this? If so why?

People do that because they are scared of getting hurt.

He doesn't trust you. A lot of women will use such things against a man. It's also unnatural and unnecessary for us to bare our soul to anyone. That's probably why he withdraws, it's completely unnecessary and he's probably doing it because he thinks it's what you want.

I have only ever said to him I am here to listen and he opens up to me. He is the one who volunteers and says he needs it. So I Iisten advise if necessary and just comort him. I don't emotionally blackmail people. I have had that happen to me. It's brutal.
