I think your problem is that some girls and guy communicate differently. I think he might not see a problem because he messages with guy friends less frequently.
Girls often message to build a feeling of being to gether and some kind of intimacy while guys often use communication to exchange information.
He therefore might feel controlled because for him there is less a necessity to call and message you every day.
