Well, first of all the premise speaks by itself: he wasn't interested to know you more, he was currently looking for sex for the most. Then he kept talking to "keep you there", I guess, but if he is looking for sex, most likely he is now chatting with another girl or had sex with her, or something. He got what he wanted so he doesn't need to keep you there anymore.
Ghosting drives anyone insane and I consider it a psychological -torture-, not just an abuse, and I think the other person should always have the minimum guts to tell a clear refuse with motivations, but that's not a widespreaded practice.
I suggest to not spend more energy behind this guy and do something to move on, such as meeting other guys or blocking his contact in order to not find yourself waiting for a message, anymore.
Afterall, what's the loss? He wasn't interested in "you", apparently, so there is a loss only if you were also looking for sexual hookups, and missed the chance to get his body. But if it's just for a body, plenty of bodies... Just like he probably went to another female body too. If you want a relationship I think you should look for someone who also looks for a relationship, not sexual hookups, or anyway to stay away when you detect intentions that are too different than yours, because it's a loss of time and energy.
