In Standards Corporate companies, when one is hired as an independent contractor, they usually are terminated after contract. I do not know your arrangement. Why not take the position, add to your resumes, and put your resume out. Sometimes, when you are at 10 months and you can say that you have other possible opportunities for a permanent position... sometimes, so that they do not have to train new body, they will hire permanently.
