We talk once per week, is this a sign of low interest?

When we are together he seems very interested, complimenting me, asking questions, and telling me about his life. Then radio silence for a week. I texted him to say I hope he had a nice week and he responded with a lot of effort (long texts, asking questions, telling me about his week.) now we are back to silence. I am confused by this. He lives a few hours away so maybe he is waiting till he can see me to talk again…. I feel like he’s interested on one hand but the lack of communication on the other hand contradicts that.

I'm in the exact same boat and it's actually why I joined this site, to ask a similar question! Everyone's been telling me to just talk to him about where we're at, which I thought was too soon for the 4th date, but I think communication is key in situations like this.

Of course I do, but I've had many girls always wait before replying, so i figure staying distant is the norm now.
