Is it normal my boyfriend and I only see each other once a week?

My boyfriend and I have been dating since January 2021 and have officially been together since early April 2021. Lately he’s been kinda distant and we only see each other once a week for about 5 hours and he texts me every few days. I feel like he’s losing interest and when I bring it up he reassures that it’s not true and he loves me. He’s either at work, the gym or with family and I just never see him. Sometimes we go two- three weeks without seeing each other and that kinda upsets me. I know sometimes he’s busy with work and I’ve done my best to be understanding about that (same with family). It’s starting to worry me because he used to always want to be around me, he’d want me to go with him to run errands or take me to do Uber eats (his 2nd job). Now our time together is getting shorter and shorter. I noticed it started after he told me he loved me and I’m afraid that he didn’t mean it. I know I might be overthinking things, this is my first relationship in 2 1/2 years and all my past relationships were extremely abusive and toxic. I really don’t want to feel this way but... I’ve felt lonely in this relationship and I dont feel important enough for his time, I feel like there’s no room for me. I don’t know what to do or say to him.

There are different explanations for why he does that. One is that maybe he can’t afford to pay for more than one date a week or maybe he does not have time to prepare for more than one date a week. I know guys who spend over 3 hours cleaning their home before receiving guests at their apartment so maybe keeping appearances is hard for him. Maybe an ex girlfriend left him and he realized it’s important to have friends and family to fall back on when things do not work so does not want to give you exclusive claims to his time.

I went through the same thing. We however got into a big fight about the distance and haven’t talked in a week.

My girlfriend and I could only meet once a week before COVID-19. It wasn't ideal, but it was the best we could do

It's not abnormal, but it does put a strain in the relationship.
