Hmm, show interest in things he mentions and use them as a window of opportunity to be alone. Show him that you prefer spending time with him instead of others. If he mentions plans to go somewhere alone, ask to accompany him,...

And if it doesn't work, you can mention it directly to him.

Just summon up all your courage and with your cutest approach say, "so, why haven't you asked me out yet"?
I had a situation like that where the girl finally said, "so are you going to kiss me or what?" That was so adorable, and yes it worked 😆

You don't do it subtly. He won't pick up on it, in 95% of cases guys do not pick up on hints. You have to be upfront.
