Something insecure people too often overlook is the power they have to make their “thing” not the most prominent thing about themselves even if they can’t make it the least prominent thing.
Big ears, big nose, big feet, a lisp or a stutter, having one eye, or an extra finger, all of it can be secondary, tertiary or entirely unimportant if you have the discipline to work on yourself. When people meet you they can remark how smart, clever, funny, educated, hard-working, athletic, talented, crazy, fun, or whatever else INSTEAD of remarking about “pointy ears”. It’s on us to make that thing not the only remarkable thing about ourselves though. It’s not on others to dig around for false compliments in order to dodge our insecurities. That’s one of the problems with so many people these days. They think they’re entitled to happiness that they did not earn. Either earn it or be sad. But don’t blame others because you’re not as happy as you want to be.
