In my case yes I am a non conformist, I'll try to not write a loooong paragraph explaining myself, but I am a 21-24 year old biological/cisgender straight single woman. I'm your typical feminine girly girl and in a way I am a non conformist because...

I do not - have any children, date, intend on marrying, party or go clubbing, have sex or do anything sexual, smoke, drink any alcohol, adopt or purchase any pets, use any make up products, use any plastic or cosmetic surgery, post or engage on Facebook, Instagram, snapchat, WhatsApp or YouTube.

DISCLAIMER: I am not posting this to judge anyone who does carry out or believe in the things that I listed to not to conform to, we are all very different from each other and therefore we will not all live our lives exactly the same way as one another and that's perfectly okay!.

But enough about me, I would like to know if you a Non-Conformist, if yes then what are you not conforming to?

Conform only if you want to, because that's your right!.

What is a non conformist person?

So, based on this definition, I’m NOT EXACTLY a nonconformist…

I DON’T think that I USUALLY do things differently from the majority of people, I just think there are SOME things which I do VERY DIFFERENTLY than others — such as…

I’m not too worried about people “knowing what I don’t know” through me asking questions (especially at work); people usually try to hide what they don’t know, but I’m concerned about discovering and understanding what I don’t currently know.

And sometimes when I have gotten along really well with a woman early on in relationships, I have worried that she was thinking I was trying to “schmooze” (manipulate) her for my own benefit; and when I have sensed this is what she might be thinking, I have “sabotaged” budding relationships by ending things w her to prove to her that she was wrong.

Also, I am a fan of the New York Yankees, however I root for the Yankees’ arch-rival team Boston Red Sox (because I love the city of Boston) when the Yankees are out of the playoffs and the Red Sox are “still in it” — which is basically unheard of.

One more thing — South Park satirizes self-proclaimed “nonconformists” in their ‘Raisins’ episode” for being “different for the sake of being different” very brilliantly…

Yes, I am a non-conformist. I don't believe in flings, casual dating, flirting, or having close friends of the opposite sex. I also don't like wearing outfits that reveal my body, I don't wear make-up, I don't go out a lot, I don't swear or like to change my appearance (I don't want to dye my hair, get piercings, get tattoos, rebond, tan, etc.), and I don't think Tiktok is good for the younger generations. @mcheetah, Non conformity is a form of uniqueness in that the definition of a non conformity or a non conformist is a person who rejects popular and widely accepted beliefs/practices and thus practices and believes in unpopular and even uncommon belief and practices.

Every person is conforming to something in one way or another, it's impossible to be a human and survive without conforming to something. The people in mental institutions and in prisons are conforming because they were sent to prison and in prison they will be forced to adhere "conform" to the prison rules and regulations, same with mental asylums the people there are forced to follow "conform" rules and regulations.

The reasons that sent those people to asylums or prison are varying but like @lazerbean said, the people who got sent to prisons are conformists they followed the footsteps of the people who rebel against the law and in that way they conformed to rebelling against the law they are also non conformists because rebelling against the law is not a widely popular and acceptable practice and thus they rejected and refused to adhere to the law by rebelling.

As for getting sent to a mental asylum that's for health reasons I don't think saying that having health conditions is conforming because usually you do not have a say in what sorts of ailments befall you.

@MCheetah, being alive and keeping yourself alive is a form of conformity, eating, sleeping, drinking, showering etc. All these things are a form of conformity, because you are conforming (following, obeying agreeing) to engaging in practices that will keep you alive. Hence why I said everyone conforms to something in one way or another...

here are a few more examples to show that almost every action taken is a form of conformity, having a job, in that job you'll have to conform to it's rules and regulations in order to keep it, if you lose your job then you have conformed to unemployment, if you decide to become a person who begs on the streets you have conformed to the practice of begging, if you decide to live on the streets you have conformed to being homeless, if you decide to have kids you have conformed to being a parent, if you start living in a secluded area alone you have conformed to being a recluse, if you decided to become a murderer you have conformed to the practice of killing others, if you commit suicide you have conformed to the practice of taking your own life and the list goes on and on.

everybody has to conform to something in this world because that's just how it works in terms of uniqueness, unique/original or eccentricity that is actually due to a persons ability to take existing practices/beliefs, ideas or concepts and presenting that in a way that has never been seen before, so literally everything that the world deems as unique, original, creative is basically a combination of already existing ideas, or concepts or beliefs that have been either merged, improved or manipulated in a way that has never been seen before. If you don't believe me look at every creative/unique invention ever made throughout time and you'll see that, that unique/creative thing adheres to the definition of creativity that I have mentioned.

I think when the word non conformist is used it is generally referring to society or to merely being a rebel in most situations.


In regards to society, I’m traditional and conservative. I consider myself to be a non conformist as I have no interest in confirming to the ways of our culture as they are currently. I’d prefer to so a return to our former values and ways of life. I am in open rebellion against woke culture and the decadence of our country. Liberalism has become mainstream.


In all other things I’m a conformist. I almost always follow the rules. I am not special. I’m not important. In keeping with my non conformity in regards to society, I choose to live as we once did on the whole, and accept that the rules, so long as they are lawful and do not violate any of God’s commands apply to me. I give respect and honor to whom it is due and keep myself in my proper place in regards to not being a rebel regarding those things. I don't have kids, I don't date, I won't ever get married and I also don't have sex all not by choice on that same side I don't do anything sexual solo because porn and masturbating makes me depressed.
