Why do I struggle with apologizing to my man?

I rather do nice things to show I'm sorry.

He gave me money to pay the cake designer for his birthday & I underpaid her. A tiny difference but she reported the matter to him.

He accepted my apology card but insists I say the words which I refused because the card says It all.

He wants my sorry in a "genuine tone" according to him & he is not relenting. I need the silent treatment to end but he is stubborn.

Is action not better than words?

Sometimes actions can be seen as dismissive, like you're not willing to actually admit to being wrong but rather you're deflecting until he gives up; that's why hearing someone admit that they are wrong makes all the difference. You should actually apologise; stubbornness is a mood killer.

I don't know but I'd suggest you figure it out because it could become a serious problem in your relationship. Actions are great, but it's the words "I'm sorry" that are most impactful. If you can't expressly say you're sorry when you screw up, that's not okay.

People who don't apologize are basically obnoxious. They either think that apologizing makes them look weak which they can't stand or that somehow apologizing means that they are admitting that they were wrong which is in fact often the case. The real weakness in refusing to apologize is the refusal itself it shows that no matter how wrong you are you're perfectly willing to dig in your heels and keep right on insisting either overtly or covertly that you were right. I've mostly seen men do this but occasionally women will do it as well. Apparently you are an example of a woman who does this.

I never would apologize either. I was pretty much a loner and never apologized to anyone because i never had anyone to apologize to. It took me a while to get the hang of it. Just a heartfelt word or two will do for starters.

Action is better than words... and so in this case writing those words < saying those words

People can struggle for difderent reasons. Keep proper apology in mind. Start small. Take responsibility where you can for small things to start with.
