apart from finding someone of age i don't think that age is that important. what counts is finding someone who is more or less at the same point in life & who has the same goals. so you should have a partner who is your equal

my partner is 7 years older than me, but we're both in uni because he started it after working and being in the military for some years. so we're at the same point in life.
