Do you emotions really choose who you love unexpectedly?

I wasn't looking, Honestly at the moment I felt like I give up. A guy that attends my church ask me out it went from there. We have same believes, He loves helping out at church like I do. And it just happened now I feel I can't control my emotions.

Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

My Pastor's always share this verse in the Bible with me when I'm having a questions or not sure feelings in everything. He also says that I shouldn't rely on my feeling/emotions since that's the first thing our enemy attacked always. He said to rely on God's word in any circumstances. Also, for your love unexpectedly I don't believe in such kind. As God answer our prayer in His perfect timing and not on our timeline. Maybe you are prayng for that man already since before and a piece of advice, grow together with God. A relationship that bind with love of God is a relationship that foundation is on the rock.
